Martin Haselböck
The Austrian conductor and organist Martin Haselböck hails from a famous family of musicians. After studying in Vienna and Paris, and receiving numerous prizes, he rapidly gained international attention as an organist, working with conductors such as Claudio Abbado, Lorin Maazel, Wolfgang Sawallisch, Riccardo Muti, and many others.

Since 1985, when the conductor and organist Martin Haselböck founded the Orchester Wiener Akademie, the orchestra has won international renown for its outstanding musicianship, its originality, the subtlety of its period interpretations, and its energy. It is the only Austrian period instrument orchestra which can range from the baroque through classical and romantic music to the early twentieth century, and can also play contemporary works on modern instruments. The orchestra is equally famous for its interpretations of the works of Bach, Mozart, Haydn and Beethoven, as well as Schumann, Brahms, Liszt und Bruckner.The orchestra's annual concert cycle in the Golden Hall of the Musikverein in Vienna is now a highly popular fixture in the city's music calendar. Among the many celebrated guest soloists are Daniel Hope, Cecilia Bartoli, John Malkovich, Sebastian Koch, Ronald Brautigam, Isabelle Faust, Thomas Hampson, Anne Schwanewilms, Sophie Karthäuser, Dorothee Mields, and many others.
