     《歌舞青春2》的剧情从东高中放暑假的剎那拉开序幕，特洛伊、凯碧、查德和泰勒到夏培和雷恩的伊凡斯家族所拥有的一家乡村俱乐部去打工，夏培想藉特洛伊在乡村俱乐部打工的机会，赢得特洛伊的关爱，而特洛伊为了得到大学奖学金，还得与夏培一起配对参加俱乐部的年度才艺大赛，但是，当凯碧与其它野猫篮球队的队友决定不把特洛伊纳入他们的计划行动时，特洛伊与朋友之间的中程面临了极大的考验。除了〈就是现在What Time Is It?〉这首青春带劲，洋溢着高校管乐与鼓乐欢乐乐声气氛的首支单曲外，《歌舞青春》首集原声带的金牌创作团队Matthew Gerrard 、Robbie Nevil还连手打造多首缤纷多样的流行音乐大作，像是散发放克摇滚风采的合唱曲〈Work This Out〉，融合冲浪摇滚与嘻哈带动唱气氛的合唱曲〈All For One〉，由Zac Efron与Vanessa Hudgens深情对唱的节奏蓝调都会情歌〈You Are The Music In Me〉、流行情歌小品〈Everyday〉以及伤感的分手之歌〈Gotta Go My Own Way〉，由Corbin Bleu与Lucas Grabeel带头，野猫篮球队队员合唱，凝聚嘻哈、爵士、摇摆热能的加油之歌〈I Don't Dance〉，还有由Ashley Tisdale与Lucas Grabeel所担纲的百老汇式的欢唱曲〈Fabulous〉以及弥漫着夏威夷度假快感的迷人小品〈Humu Humu Nuku Nuku Apuaa〉。
