女王授勋“可儿”乐队表彰对音乐的贡献
英女王伊丽莎白二世日前授予了爱尔兰家庭乐队“可儿”英帝国荣誉勋章，以表彰他们对音乐事业以及慈善工作的突出贡献。
英国驻都柏林大使馆日前宣布了这一消息。爱尔兰总理伯蒂·埃亨称自己对此“十分高兴”，“他们是我们国家的特别大使，他们将自己的音乐事业与慈善事业很好地结合在了一起。”
英帝国荣誉勋章只能由英女王亲自授予，专门表彰那些为英国做出突出贡献的人。英国驻爱尔兰大使斯图尔特·埃尔顿称他得知“可儿”受表彰后十分高兴。“我相信他们在全球的乐迷听到这个消息后都会很高兴，乐队应当得到如此赞誉。”
“可儿”由一家四位成员———安德雷亚、卡罗琳、吉姆和莎朗组成。他们出生在爱尔兰东北部卢斯郡的小城邓达尔克，此地靠近与北爱尔兰接壤的边境。音乐本就是“可儿”一家的光荣传统。这四兄妹的父母琼和杰瑞曾组乐队名叫“声音情史”。四兄妹自上世纪90年代初就开始组队表演，他们将传统的爱尔兰音乐元素与流行乐融合到一起，形成鲜明的特色，成为世界上最著名的乐队之一，唱片销量在全球超过300万张，仅在英国就达600万张。
“可儿”曾为位于英国纽卡斯尔的弗里曼医院集资开办慈善演唱会，还曾为援助奥马爆炸事件死难者以及为王子信托基金会筹款开唱，并于2002年参加了天主教大赦年的慈善演唱会。他们支持了2003年在都柏林举行的特奥会，并常代表第三世界国家慈善机构“关心”积极活动，并长期关注非洲艾滋病问题。他们同时还在南非前总统曼德拉组织的“46664”运动中担任大使。
