This voice with a slight Sinatra touch, this cheeky piano playing, these compositions that combine jazz and pop with a light touch: you can hear Raphael Jost's second octet album that Jamie Cullum played a decisive role in the musical development of the Swiss singer and pianist Has. Only once, on “The More I See You”, does Jost appear as a crooning standard admirer on “Mooseday”, otherwise the desire for the more modern dominates. There are disco grooves (“Cross The River”), zappaeskes (“Oh My God” by the Kaiser Chiefs) and touching balladesk (“Not Enough To Reach You”). The fabulous brass arrangements make it clear: Maria Schneider seems to be at least as important an influence on the Swiss response to Cullum, Alexander Stewart and Anthony Strong.
