Victor Eresko
Виктор Кондратьевич Ересько
Pianist, born August 6, 1942, in the village of Swyatoshino (nowadays a part of Kiev), Ukraine.
In 1965 he graduated from the Moscow Conservatory, and improved in postgraduate studies until 1967. Winner of the Long and Thibaut International Competition (1963), winner of the third prize at the Tchaikovsky International Competition (1966). In 1973 he became the first musician in history to perform a cycle of all piano pieces by S. V. Rachmaninov at concerts on the occasion of the centenary of the birth of the composer. In 1993 he was awarded the French Order of Art and Literature, becoming the third Russian pianist (after V. Ashkenazi and S. Richter), who received this award.
